This truly is a spectacular time of year. It’s a little easier to crawl out of bed in the morning, the days are getting delightfully longer and those heavy jackets are going to the back of the cupboard.
At McLeish Estate this time of the year is known as budburst, as the Spring leaves are starting to appear on the vines. Budburst is a season of continuing change and growth, as different varietals shoot at different times. Chardonnay shoots early in the season, but we won’t see Cabernet Sauvignon or Shiraz until late Spring.
As we move towards vintage the vines will flower, self-pollinate and then eventually the grapes will appear, before full ripeness is achieved and harvest is undertaken through late January and early February.
We want to celebrate this glorious time of year with you, soaking up the sun in our lush vineyards with our Budburst Long Lunch. Spend a splendid few hours savouring pairings of McLeish Estate wines with a specially prepared four course menu, featuring the Hunter’s best produce.
