Bob & Maryanne McLeish
McLeish Estate was established in 1985 when Bob and Maryanne McLeish planted Semillon & Chardonnay on their 16 hectare property on DeBeyers Road, Pokolbin in the Hunter Valley, 163km North of Sydney.
Today, after more than 39 years of producing premium quality warm-climate wines and having been awarded numerous trophies and medals at prestigious wine shows, the McLeish family continues to produce wines that capture the freshness and elegance that Hunter Valley wines are famous for.
In 1995, Bob McLeish and his wife Maryanne opened a cellar door. They have renovated and expanded the wineries facilities on the property.
“I was first influenced to drink wine when I was working as an engineer in Adelaide in the mid-eighties. The water and the beer were terrible quality so I turned to drinking wine” – Bob McLeish
McLeish Estate continue to produce a range of highly awarded wines. In 2016 McLeish Wines received the trophy to World’s Best Semillon at the London International Wine Challenge and Australia’s White Wine of the Year in 2014.
With the second generation of the McLeish family, daughter Jessica involved in the family winery. The future of the company is to continue producing some of Australia’s finest wines in Australia’s oldest growing wine region.

Jessica McLeish
Born into the heart of a family winery. Jessica has Semillon running through her veins. Growing up amidst the vineyard of the family estate, she developed an innate understanding and love for every part of the wine industry from the vine to the glass.
From an early age, Jessica could be found alongside her family, tending to the vines and processing fruit in the winery. Jessica first studied a Bachelor of Business (HR) before travelling to work vintages at Château Carsin in in Rions France, learning from the Bio Dynamic vineyard and it’s old world production methods. After this experience Jessica completed her Masters in Wine Business covering oenology, viticulture and economics of wine.
Today, as a key member of the McLeish family winery. Jessica brings a unique blend of tradition and innovation to each bottle. Whether it’s the muti award winning Semillon or the rare Cabernet Sauvignon, Jessica’s touch is evident in every sip.
Community involvement has been very important over the past 14 years, contributing to the Hunter Valley Legends awards committee, Hunter Valley Wine Show committee, the Hunter Valley marketing sub committee and working with Wine Australia on trade visits to the region. Contribution has also been made to editing the following wine publication ‘Wine Sense- The Art of Appreciating Wine’ 2014 By Steve Shipley.
Beyond the vineyards and cellars, Jessica is a wine show judge and educator. Completing the Advanced Wine Assessment Course (AWAC) through the AWRI and certified WSET level 3 in wine training. Being part of the wine show system seen Jessica judge regionally in the Hunter Valley, national shows Sydney Royal Wine Show and internationally at the International Wine Challenge in London.
