The Reserve label is created from the very best vintages and parcels of fruit from the McLeish Estate vineyards. It showcases the versatility that the Chardonnay varietal has when produced throughout the world, and embraces the modern Hunter style we deliver.
This wine is a modern interpretation of Chardonnay that focuses on the primary fruit qualities which are backed by an elegant use of French oak to add complexity and texture to the overall wine.
Tasting Notes
With a bright golden hue, the bouquet displays fresh pear, nectarine and fig with underlying hints of toasty vanilla, hazelnuts and cool cream. The palate is velvety and delivers a delicious mix of fig, white peach, soft cream and pear. The wine has been crafted to a medium bodied style that displays a brightness and persistency of toasted brioche and spicy vanilla to the finish.
Aging
Drink now or cellar for 1 to 2 years.
Food Pairings
Lobster in a garlic butter sauce, traditional creamy carbonara or baked camembert cheese.
Technical Notes
Vineyard
The fruit is hand harvested, sorted for quality then processed for the initial fermentation.
Production
After fermentation 30% of the wine was matured in 1st year French Oak barriques, while the remaining 70% was matured in 2nd and 3rd year French Oak barriques. The wine also underwent malolaction conversion to convert the tart malic acid to creamy lactic acid.
