2019 Auld Killie (Off- dry Semillon)
The McLeish family originated from Kilmarnock affectionately known as ‘Auld Killie’
This is an off-dry style, an alternative to the classic McLeish Semillon, this wine displays a touch of sweetness, bright tropical fruits and vibrant acidity and a hint of citrus. Making it the perfect alfresco wine.
Bright, with a light green tinged. This delicious Semillon style expresses vibrant lemon freshness with an equally intense tropical fruit aromatics. While the palate delivers green apple and grapefruit providing the perfect balance of vibrant juicy sweet fruits on the mid palate to a crisp semi- dry finish.
This year McLeish Estate started harvesting the Semillon on the 30th of January. The optimal conditions prevailed with long warmer days, the Vintage conditions throughout the white harvest continued to be extreme heat waves of 40 degrees plus leading to excellent ripeness and primary fruit characters.
Our Semillon is hand harvested from vines grown in friable red duplex loam soil at Pokolbin in the Lower Hunter Valley.– the vines, planted in 1985 – consistently producing the purest and brightest signatures of Hunter Semillon.
