Semillon’s original home was in the Bordeaux area of France, where it makes the most delicious sweet white wines called “Sauternes”. At McLeish Estate we also make the original “Sauternes” sweet white wine, named “Botrytis Semillon” after the noble mould “Botrytis Cinerea” that infects the grapes to make this luscious style.
The Jessica’s Botrytis Semillon is named after second generation Vigneron and Owner Jessica McLeish.
Deep gold in colour, the nose displays pineapple and lime characters reflecting the fresh Semillon while a marmalade tone is introduced by the Botrytis infection.
The palate holds guava fruit and is rich and long without being overly sweet. The finish is balanced with crisp acidity. A perfect accompaniment to dessert dishes this wine may be carefully cellared in order to gain complexity
