The Chardonnay varietal has great versatility when being produced throughout the world. Our winemaker produces a modern interpretation that focuses on the primary fruit qualities that are backed by an elegant use of French oak to add complexity and texture to the overall wine.

Tasting Notes

This modern expression produced from the McLeish single vineyard, showcases a super fragrant and complex nectarine, pear and zesty citrus aromas. The luscious mix of white peach, cashew, honey mances with melon fruit overtones on the palate, produce a powerful fruit drive, with extreme length and notes of spicy oak.

Good early season rain followed a very early budburst in late August with even growing conditions continuing until Christmas.
The optimal conditions prevailed with long warmer days, the Vintage conditions throughout the Chardonnay harvest continued to be extreme heat waves of 40 degrees plus leading to excellent ripeness and primary fruit characters.

Vineyard

The Reserve label signifies the very best vintages and parcels of fruit from McLeish Estate vineyards that are located in Australia’s oldest wine growing region; the Hunter Valley, planted in 1985. Our Chardonnay is hand harvested from vines grown in friable red duplex loam soil– Fruit thinning was carried out on the single vineyard to consistently producing the purest and brightest signatures of Hunter Chardonnay.
