2013 McLaren Vale Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
The Reserve Cabernet displays the essence of the McLaren Vale region and our winemaking style. The aromas of berry fruit coupled with choc- mint and herbal notes. Proceeds to the lush blackcurrant fruit and spiced salted caramel characters on the palate.
A succulent wine with a pleasing velvety texture adding length on the finish
Awarded: 1 Silver
The beginning of Summer was quite mild with little rain. Then came January and February with high temperatures providing rapid ripening across the Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard.
The fruit was in first class condition, berries were small with great flavour and perfect acidity. Overall a short and compact vintage with quality comparing well to the outstanding 2012 vintage.
The Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard is located in the lower southern half of the McLaren Vale region on gently undulating to flat land. The vineyard site has a relative depth of red brown and patches of friable black sandy loams soils of the south facing location.
